History of Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School
HeLa High, was built in 2012 and opened its doors to students in the Fall of 2013. Henrietta Lacks was built to meet the needs of the Vancouver area by educating students to become college and career ready in the fields of health and biosciences.
2021 The Students of Color Union at Henrietta Lacks High School called upon the Washington State Legislature to acknowledge the contribution of Henrietta Lacks' cells to medical research. SOCU's actions, in collaboration with Senator Wellman, resulted in the Henrietta Lacks Resolution which recognizes injustices done to her and her family and calls for a continued focus on ethics in science and medicine.
